Autism Services
The Autism Services Department provides educational opportunities to children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder using methods based on principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Children accepted into the program attend up to 30 hours per week of one-to-one instruction with a tutor under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and a Ph.D.-level professor from the University of North Texas, Department of Behavior Analysis. A medical social worker provides family support and help with finding additional resources for children with Autism. The Autism Services Department works collaboratively with the Psychology Department for thorough testing and social skills training and with the Pediatrics Department for diagnosis and treatment services. Initial funding of this department was provided by a grant from the State of Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services.
