Founded in 1962, the CSC is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer board of directors.
The Child Study Center serves children from birth through 21 years of age who have or are at risk for developmental disabilities. The Robert W. Decker Pediatric Department sees children with the full range of developmental difficulties and associated disorders.
Neurodevelopmental, developmental behavioral, and general pediatricians staff the program. The Center is the only source for this subspecialty care in Tarrant County. Common diagnoses served include:
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Autistic spectrum disorders
Behavioral disorders
Developmental delay
Developmental difficulties associated with syndromes and other developmental differences
Learning disabilities
Intellectual disabilities
*The Child Study Center does not have Psychiatrists or a Psychiatric Department*
Neurodevelopmental and behavioral pediatricians focus their entire professional practice on diagnosing and treating children with developmental and behavioral disorders. The diagnostic process involves physical examination, observation, and sometimes developmental or medical testing. The pediatrician frequently serves as the director of a team of specialists to design a program of care that benefits the child and the family. Ongoing developmental pediatric care may involve repeated screening or testing, prescribing medication and supervision of the program of care.
