How to Help

Mission and Purpose

The mission of the Child Study Center is two-fold: to provide asset management oversight for the Center's endowment, and to raise and manage charitable funds for the benefit and support of the Child Study Center. The Foundation also manages the marketing and volunteer programs for the benefit of the Center.

How Your Gifts Help

Your gifts to the Child Study help insure that quality services for children with developmental disabilities are available.

Gifts to the Child Study Center through the Foundation establish and sustain programs, improve or develop facilities, and fund education efforts. Gifts, which are tax deductible to the degree allowed by law, can be designated toward a particular Child Study Center program or endowment, or can be unrestricted for the Center to use where the need is greatest.

Support of the Child Study Center

Financial Support
Types of gifts received at the Foundation include cash and other outright gifts, honor and memorial gifts, bequests, gifts of life insurance and charitable remainder trusts. Gifts to the endowment allow donors to continue their gifts into perpetuity. Endowment funds are professionally managed to ensure their growth and productivity.

Volunteer Support
Volunteers are utilized throughout the Child Study Center in various capacities. Adult and teen volunteers provide knowledge, skills, talents and extra enthusiasm that support the everyday operation of the Center's work. Opportunities to volunteer include:

Book Fair - Support the Jane Justin School by working a two-hour shift at the fall or spring Book Fair.

Children's Golf Classic - Assistance is needed with the Center's annual golf tournament held in April. Duties may include: registration, sitting prize holes, driving the drink/snack cart, etc... FORE!

Clerical/Office - It's a "paper chase". Clerical and office assistance is needed to shred paper, file, make copies, enter data, assist in organizing Board meeting packets, etc... Hours are flexible.

Jane Justin School - Assist teachers by playing with children on the playground, assisting with lunch, reading to children, and various other duties involving the school kids.

Mailings - Help us get out the good news about the Child Study Center by assisting with bulk mailings; label, address, stuff and arrange in zip code order! This is a FUN project to help with, as there are always several volunteers on the job (plus doughnuts and coffee).

Party on the Patio - Annual "fiesta" at Joe T. Garcia's; includes live and silent auctions that need to be planned and pulled off by creative and fun-loving volunteers. It is a BLAST!

Switchboard - Assistance is needed to answer the switchboard and direct the calls to the appropriate departments. There are four shifts in need of coverage: Tuesdays 8:00 - 12:00 or 1:00 - 5:00 and Fridays 8:00 - 12:00 or 1:00 - 5:00.
